Extracto del Weekly Intelligence Summary, Hq, ATC, dtd 1-14-48
OBJETOS AÉREOS NO IDENTIFICADOS: El A-2 del Eastern Pacific Wing, Pacific Division, Air Transport Command informa las siguientes cuatro observaciones de objetos aéreos no identificados, todas ocurridas en los estados del oeste a las 1925 o 1926 horas Pacific Standard Time (PST) del 30 de diciembre de 1947.
Mientras estaba en un vuelo administrativo de Great Falls, Montana, a Fairfield-Suisun Airfield, en la noche del 30 de diciembre de 1947, un posible avistamiento de cohete hecho por el piloto, Teniente Coronel A. A. Jones, Hq, EPW y el copiloto, Mayor A. A. Andrae, Hq, EPW de un aeroplano C-54. A las 1926 horas PST, localización 42° 09.3″™ Norte, 114° 22.2 Oeste (cerca del punto de reunión de las fronteras estatales de Nevada, Utah y Idaho) mientras cruzaban a 13000 pies, un objeto no identificado, con estelas de flamas verde y azules, fue visto por un periodo de dos segundos. El objeto estaba descendiendo verticalmente a gran velocidad y pareció frenar ligeramente al acercarse al terreno. El objeto apareció en una posición 2:30 en relación con el aeroplano y las flamas eran intensamente brillantes.
Se recibió un informe en la torre de Fairfield-Suisun de la torre McClellan Airfield en Sacramento diciendo que se había recibido un informe del Sacramento Air Depot C-47 #7488 volando cerca de Rosedale, California, al efecto de que fue avistado un objeto a las 1925 horas PST con estelas de varios colores de flamas con rojo y verde predominando. El objeto estaba viajando a una gran velocidad y a baja altura del Este hacia algunas colinas al Noroeste de Sacramento a aproximadamente 38° 50″™ Norte, 121° 53″™ Oeste que era considerablemente grande. La torre de Fairfield solicitó un vuelo nocturno local C-47 que también investigara el fuego por un posible accidente de aeronave y el piloto informó sobre el fuego a las 1937 horas PST en una posición de 38° 50″™ Norte y 120° 53″™ Oeste. El fuego se estaba quemando en una forma triangular sobre una zona pequeña y terminó a las 2155. Dos puntos particulares en el fuego parecían quemarse con flamas brillantes azul verde.
La torre de control de Fairfield obtuvo un informe a aproximadamente las 2300 horas PST, del 30 de diciembre de 1947, de Hamilton Field Flight Control, de que a las 1926 horas un motorista sobre la US Highway #40, treinta millas al Oeste de Lovelock, Nevada, aproximadamente 39° 53″™ Norte, 118° 53″™ Oeste había visto explotar un objeto en el aire a una altura de 1200 a 1300 pies.

Se recibió un informe en la torre de Fairfield-Suisun de la torre McClellan Airfield en Sacramento diciendo que se había recibido un informe del Sacramento Air Depot C-47 #7488 volando cerca de Rosedale, California, al efecto de que fue avistado un objeto a las 1925 horas PST con estelas de varios colores de flamas con rojo y verde predominando. Estaba viajando a una gran velocidad y a baja altura del Este hacia algunas colinas al Noroeste de Sacramento a aproximadamente 38° 50″™ Norte, 121° 53″™ Oeste. La torre de Fairfield solicitó al piloto que investigara y a las 1958 el piloto informó un pequeño fuego a las 38° 50″™ N y 120° 53″™ O que se hizo considerablemente grande. Fairfield solicitó a un vuelo nocturno local C-47 que también investigara el fuego por un posible accidente de aeronave y el piloto informó sobre el fuego a las 1927 tiempo P. S. en una posición 38° 50″™ N y 120° 53″™ O. El fuego se estaba quemando en una forma triangular sobre una zona pequeña y terminó a las 2155. El Orlando Morning Sentinel, de Orlando, Florida, del 28 de junio de 1947 publica una pequeña nota de un avistamiento supuestamente ocurrido el mismo día que el avistamiento de Kenneth Arnold[1]
Segunda historia «Platillo Volador» contada por ingeniero
Joliet, Ill. (UP) Charles Kastl, un ingeniero de Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railroad, dijo ayer que él vio «alrededor de nueve» discos giradores volando a través del cielo el pasado martes, el mismo día que un piloto de Idaho dijo que vio algunos «platillos voladores» destellando en el aire. Ninguna otra persona en la zona de Joliet informó nada inusual.
El 8 de julio The Telegraph, de Nashua, New Hampshire, publicó una curiosa noticia de un extraño avistamiento de un plato volador, y hasta el momento el único que conozco, hecho por un perro[2]:

Ahora los perros los están viendo.
Los «platillos voladores» finalmente han llegado a Nashua, pero hasta ahora el único testigo parece haber sido un perro, aunque su testimonio es parcialmente corroborado por un ama de casa.
Una mujer de Nashua informó a su esposo ayer que ella pensó que había visto uno de los misteriosos discos después que notó el can comportarse «peculiarmente». El perro, dijo ella, se mantuvo mirando arriba hacia el cielo. Ella miró también, y ahí, – ella pensó «“ estaba uno de los discos.
El perro no hizo comentarios.
